North Eastern Mountain Lion: Gone Forever

Mountain Lion's Range
As recently within the last month a very well-known animal in the American eye has gone extinct, the Eastern Mountain Lion was reported as of early December to be extinct. The Mountain Lion has gone by many aliases; Cougar, Puma, Mountain Lion, Panther, Catamount, and even Ghost Cat. The name Ghost Cat is given because these cats are solitary and shy animals that are seldom seen by humans in the wild. They do occasionally attacks humans, but it is a rare occurrence only happening four times a year, with maybe one fatality. Mountain Lions used to exist across the US before European settlers came, now less than 200 years later they have been confined to the Mid-West and the West, but there was a particular sub species that lived on the east coast, but that now has become extinct, due to habitat loss and killings to protect ones livestock. The Eastern Mountain Lion ranged all the way from “New England” all the way down to Florida. There was even the famed Florida Panther that existed in the Everglades that existed with a black fur. All though the Eastern strain of Mountain Lion is presumed to be extinct there have been recorded sightings of what would appear to be a mountain lion, but there is no validity to those sightings, but I hope there is some validity to those sightings because it would be a shame for these animals to be lost forever.
